Who I Am
I am a peaceful, humorous presence with an interest in spirituality, philosophy, movies, music, art, and nature. I believe experiencing peak moments allows us to connect to the environment around us in meaningful ways. I am my best self when I’m at the beach and in the ocean.
I am a former future Buddhist monk who believes we’re all at our best when we’re relaxed, laughing, and not taking ourselves or the world too seriously.
I am committed to creating a warm, welcoming, supportive space in which all your identities can truly be seen, heard, and accepted, including cultural background, gender and sexual identity, socioeconomic status, ability, military affiliation, and religious/spiritual orientation.
I believe that kindness, non-judgement, and unconditional positive regard are the keys to establishing genuine human connection, self-awareness, and growth towards your own individual goals.

Who I Am
I am a family person, who identifies as Bisexual and/or Queer. I’m married to a wonderful partner and have two amazing children. I’m a huge animal lover and will try to cuddle with just about all of them!
My journey was not always an easy one. I have past experiences with trauma from childhood through young adulthood and have had to work through many emotionally tumultuous events myself. Therapy was one of the things that ultimately helped me be the best version of myself that I could be for myself and my family. My kids have always been my biggest motivator, both personally and professionally.
I had an opportunity to live in Hawaii in my early 20’s and it was an amazing place for finding joy along my journey. There, I learned to appreciate the beauty and bountiful earth, connect with myself and feminism, and find time to play and enjoy being alive! Adventure, connection, and family are three of my top values, and I incorporate them into my life as often as possible. I am so happy to be able to return to this beautiful island and bring with me all my years of training and experience to the community.
My Professional Training and Experience
I graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s degree and went to the University of Denver for my Master’s in Clinical Social Work. For the past five years I have worked at Colorado State University and developed a passion for working with underrepresented students. In my work at CSU, I organized events, led workshops, worked one on one with students, and heard so many amazing student stories of challenge and triumph.
Now, I am the owner and one of the therapists at Calming Mind Counseling, which is a family run online Therapy business. I am passionate about working with trauma survivors and people identifying in the Pride community. I have completed many mental health trainings in the past eight years and have a focus on helping people heal from trauma. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist and attend trainings annually because I believe that in order to truly help others, I need to be up to date on the current best practices and treatment models. I will continue to train annually as long as I am a therapist.
I am trained in:
Trauma Informed Mental Health Treatment
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
Motivational Interviewing
Experiential Therapy
Mindfulness Therapy
Somatic Therapy (Body Centered)
Feminist, Humanistic, and Culturally Informed Therapy
Psychological First Aid
It is my goal as your therapist to develop a strong helping connection, support you in pursuing your goals, and offer the skills and expertise to help you cope with your mental health needs.
